1. Stay Hydrated
Drinking water not only keeps you active throughout the day, but is also very important for working out. As you sweat, your body loses water, and so you must replenish it.
This does not mean drinking a gallon of water before working out as it can make you feel bloated, and ultimately hinder your ability to workout easily. After a workout, aim to drink around one and a half times the fluid you lost.
2. Don’t Get Intimidated
Gym intimidation is real, especially when you work out around weight lifters. The trick is to start small and gradually build your way up. Practice patience and go easy on yourself. Pat yourself for keeping up with the gym schedule and making an effort.
3. Don’t Eat Heavy Meals Right before A Workout
This is the worst thing you can do to yourself before hitting the gym, as it’ll only end up making you feel nauseous and make you unable to perform to the best of your abilities.
Give yourself a window of three to four hours after a meal before you start working out. If you’re feeling hungry before a workout, have a banana or dates as they are packed with energy and give you the boost to start a killer workout.
4. Invest In The Right Gym Clothes
Be sure to wear clothes you feel comfortable in and those that facilitate a range of motions, allowing you to perform your workout effectively.
Invest in breathable and sweat-wicking gym wear that improves your blood flow circulation and keeps your body temperature cool.
5. Ask Questions
Working out for the first time can feel overwhelming since you don’t know the extent to which your body can go and what workouts are effective for you.
